This was a great way to do the lottery. It's not perfect, I got screwed a bit by a tie, but, I say that not to complain, but, to set a precedent for future GMs. Sometimes you will be screwed a bit by a tie and sometimes you'll benefit a bit. But, it's worth it to have the fun of it being tied to the real life lotto.
