Guys I’m going to put this on blast right now, because I said this over a month ago and to be honest this might be my last day.
we are one day away from the season starting and we are still like a week to 2 weeks after away from being done free agency, and even allowing for pick ups.
teams are fielding half their roster spots, it’s ridiculous. a few of us brought this up before free agency, there was no way we’d be done on time, it was ignored. I even mentioned shortening the auction window to 6-8 hrs to make it work. Then during free agency I again brought it up that we needed to do 3 at a time and shortening the wait window in the first round to get through this on time and it was ignored.
This kind of nonsense ruins the whole season. We are likely going to be week 3 in a 16 week season before teams can field full teams.
The problem I have with this league is it has a strict ‘we’ve always done it this way, and it stays that way’. Instead of adapting, it’s stuck in what worked 13 years ago. It was clear we needed to change this year due to the pandemic but we didn’t.
If you find someone to take over my squad let me know. I think I’m ready to move on. Free agency killed it for me this year.

Obviously don't want you to go Halifax. Might be hard finding someone to take on Rudy and his contract We did well with the Draft to start and finish that before the real NBA Draft, and agree we needed to do this with free agency. At time of writing, we still have 22 auctions still to go at 3 a time, so that would take another 3-6 days to complete. Then the unattached free agents. I think we can rescue this - why don't we shorten the regular season to 15 weeks (from the current 17), so every team gets to play each other exactly once? No one can complain about the strength of schedule. There are also over 100 M in exceptions to use, so it will be fun to see bidding wars on unknowns.

The "we've always done it this way" argument...not sure how it applies to something we've never read done.
As far as fielding teams. We would need a mechanism allowing teams to retain some of these scrubs left of we were to jump straight to a free for all. No one has really proposed one of those

No one has really proposed one of those the way it is always done is in reference to when a couple of us brought up that we won’t be done free agency to start the year, the result was ‘we’ve gone into the season without being done before’. Open it up completely is the only way to salvage it. If you don’t you are talking about week 2-3 before teams can actually field a full roster. As it stands I’m already going into week one with 8 players. It’s bullshit

Opening it all up seems like the only solution to me at this point.

I don't agree, sorry. It's too late to do this - we're less than 36 hours from the start of the season

Teams need at least 12 guys to start the season. Anything less is detrimental to the league.

Opening up wouldnt work. Posting all the auctions now and then opening up after would work

Sorry - this whole offseason/nba seasons has been a wreck in general. It's tough to find the time, personally, to manage through everything, especially on condensed timelines.
At this point, there isn't much left. Brian, you okay with just listing the remaining FA's, and giving 12 hour out-bid periods? Then open it up? Let's run with this.
Edit TPE deadlines are a bit wrecked with this; but, nothing is ideal at this point.
