Well, I had hoped this playoff run would have gone better but looking at the likely outcome tonight this is finally it. I've been playing this game now for 12 years and it's come time to hang it up. I didn't want to go out with a losing season and finishing third this year is something I'm proud of after the past two seasons (my worst).
I'm proud of a few other things: - 10 of 12 years Air Republic was a playoff team - That I turned around my awful roster when I became an owner (zero picks and one actual good player) - This year was my best draft - 3 League Championships - Most importantly knowing all of you and loving the game!
Thank you all for the time and the effort to make this game great!
A few extra thoughts....
- Brian: Thank you for the decade+ as commissioner of this league. I sincerely appreciated your hard work hosting this game. I never imagined I'd be playing this game this long and you've done a great job keeping it fun. - Wes: You and Dome were the best two owners this league has ever had building a roster. I think this is your year and I'll miss our trade talks. Good luck! - Mo: I'm sorry I never made good on my IOU's from a decade ago. Seriously, your awesome and it's been fun talking trades for over a decade. - I would like for Air Republic to live on. I know the recent history is to break up teams but I dread seeing 12 years of management disappear and the history of three wins for the franchise. I'll offer to help the next owner so they have a mentor for a few months if requested. I inherited an awful team and I always said I would never do that to the guy who gets my team after me.
Best of luck!
-Kaz

Sadly, this won't be my year. But, thanks for the kind words. It's a sad day to see you leave, I hope things change for you down the line and you make a triumphant return in the future.

Thanks Wes, losing your arguably best player to injury does hurt. VBA championships from my experience come down to luck and players not getting hurt or sitting out.
I just don't follow the NBA as a whole like I did when I was in high school and college. I still watch the magic when I can (mostly hoping for half off papa johns lol). I'm much more interested now in college sports and more recently Orlando City Soccer. For me I just didn't want to go out on a low (last year).

Huge loss for the VBA. All the best in retirement - though I will note that I came back once from 'retirement' too

Have been travelling for business so I was just able to post a reaction to this. I'm really sad to see you go Kaz, I have been contemplating retiring for awhile and I'll probably cut down the number of leagues I'm in by half but I will stay here as weekly lineups doesnt require a lot of in-season maintenance and just for the camaraderie we have over here. I hope you would reconsider your decision as well If not, take good care and drop by in here as often as you could buddy.

Huge turnaround this year, Kaz. Most always a contender... major respect for your GM duties here. Of course, once your time frees up, get back over here and continue on where you left off.

Thanks Petey. It wasn't an easy choice at all. I just don't watch that much basketball anymore so it was harder to keep up. I plan to keep an eye on the league and if Dutch wants a second opinion help out.
