So I'm looking into trading Jokic.
My understanding is that he is a free agent in VBA next year because even though Denver had never any intention of losing him, they had to make him a RFA first before signing him to the 5-year max.
Are you able to confirm that this is how we will treat him in VBA; i.e. as a free agent next year?

Yes. Nuggets declined his option to make him a FA. No extension.
I flubbed the contract when it was put in 2015, as far as his option (though all the details weren't very clear) So, you do get him for an extra year on a cheap salary, and will have his rights next summer.
