What's the formula we use to determine what the hardcap is? Also, why don't we just hold off on the dispersal draft until after we get that number, so teams can build/draft correctly and not blindly?

The way the hard cap currently works means the exact number doesn't or shouldn't really affect decisions in dispersal and free agency.

It's the highest NBA payroll divided by NBA teams * VBA teams. As far as when its announced, it used to be announced before the first game of the season. (Making it higher as well) And the dispersal draft is supposed to be expansion which shouldn't matter with hard cap that much

When the hardcap increases, does the soft cap? No the soft cap increases separately. It's probably due for one next season.

Ie: hard cap will be 200% of the soft cap. not saying that should be what is used, but it all should be easy to figure out and plan around. Ideally, all arbitrary decisions should be ironed out and replaced with firm and clear rules.

Understood. But as it stands, the soft cap was created for one reason and the hard cap for another down the road, thus the different
