I still think lebron opts out... If only just to sign a bigger deal with the heat.

I think Lebron opts out as well. And Jameer opting out seems an odd one to me, but, it's not a big deal either way.

OK, I see Nelson has a team option. Makes sense. What is strange is taht I just signed him as a free ageny last year and he's all ready back on the market. That's unusual.

Nikes must be a happy manager right now after that decision.

I spent at least 2 hours scouring every article from espn to small newspapers; JUST on the heat situation. Ive read that Wade opts out and not the other two, Ive read that Bosh opts out and not the other two, and Ive read that all 3 opt out, all 3 opt in, and Lebron opts out and not the other two.
My thinking is, they make a big playoff run and win their 3rd in a row. Considering the only team to ever win 4 in a row were the Auerbach/Russell Celtics; them winning a 4th would make them the 2nd best team in NBA history in theory.
The biggest downside to opting in is getting hurt after not taking a guaranteed long term deal. The Big 3 have 2 chances to opt in so 2 guaranteed years, so that downside is less risk. An option Carmelo doesn't have.
So, the question is, if Lebron wants to stay in Miami why doesn't he opt out and sign a 5 year deal? I don't think he wants to stay in Miami, as much as he wants that 4th in a row.
So, if I were to wager long term.
I'd say Lebron and Bosh both opt in this year and opt out next year.
This year the teams that could possibly sign one of the big 3 outright without too much work: Philly (why would he go there this year) Dallas (only if they don't re-sign Dirk, so why would he go there) Utah (again why) Phoenix Lakers (A horrible Lakers team though) A few other teams could make moves to offer a max deal, like Cleveland (why I have them opting out of Vareajos deal)
His best chance to win a ring next season is Miami. If he waits one more year, all those same teams will hold their capspace for him; plus potentially adding up to 11 more teams who could offer a max deal. Including New York.

Definitely think LeBron opts out, and re-signs in Miami...gotta get paid that "respect" money now, that Kobe-style money.
I'm willing to cut Brian a bit of slack. It was a tough call, but the wrong one was made IMO.
Ditto for Christina Bosh.
Wade is an old man, playing on 2 bum knees, for practically a 1/3 of the season...does he still opt out and get paid more regardless? Toughest one to call.
