Was one of those decisions where 20% of the league would have done what Brian did and 80% do the other.

Well, here's the thing; it's tough to predict what those 3 are going to do; when honestly I don't think they even know what they are doing. Too many variables. And I've been right before in those scenarios where my thoughts on it were in the minority.

Brian, what do you think your % is over the years? Generally you're pretty good, I'd say hovering around 80% +/- a few % points.

Honestly the only ones I remember being wrong on a decent guy was Carlos Boozer (I think 100% people were wrong on that) and I think one or two others.
Recently, I went against popular thought on Monta Ellis and was correct.
Was I right on Dwight? I think I had him opting in (which he did) which was not the popular thinking.

Yeah, I'd guess closer to 95%.

Parsons was probably a case of his contract details not showing he had an option when the contract was put in here.
Either way, I would have had Houston picking up his option 10 times out of 10 anyways; so I'd of been wrong.

IMO, this was a clear-cut mistake by Brian. I get that a lot (most) of this is subjective, but I feel as though everything was pointing towards an opt-out. Btw, if he signs a FA extension, it does not kick in in VBA, correct?

I believe the answer would be no. Can't always get them right.
Is there a reason we don't wait to do options until the nba deadline? I'm sure there is a good one but I can't recall why.

I'd like to know that reason as well.

LeBron becomes a fa in this case next season no matter where he signs.
Reason we do early is because of expansion lists and protecting your players.
As for everything pointing to the opposite. Why is him opting out such a bug news story?

Why is him opting out such a bug news story? ...because his name is LeBron James. Why is Melo opting out such a big news story, when everybody and their Mother knew he was opt-ing out from the Knicks?

So in your mind it was a no brainer that LeBron was opting out and resigning with the heat
