Hey guys,
If you can find someone to take over my team that would be great. I’m just not enjoying the model anymore, I prefer more trades and the all or nothing model leads to a lot of inactivity and weird trades. 3 trade offers in over a year isn’t my thing haha.
Enjoyed the run, took over the worst team and think I was in the playoffs all 5 years and won 3 times.
good luck, and most of you I’ll see in the CBL haha ill probably end up starting a hybrid league of the two rule sets, cause I’ll have the itch for more than 1 league haha.

Teams pushed for a hard cap and other salary restrictive measures that makes trades a lot more difficult to complete. I argued against all of them for this reason. It makes the league feel slow and owners can drift off. A “small” changes to improve the league imo would be: -Removing cut players from your cap after a year. It would give teams the chance to start fresh without instant space. -135% or 150% matching salary in trades -Make the hard cap three times the salary cap. No more mystery number each year. -Have a minimum salary at 75% salary cap (so teams have to spend money each year) -Make the dispersal draft permanent

Definitely used to be a wheel and deal league. I think some of the problem is we have a handful of inactive guys and a handful of guys who literally NEVER make decent offers. There is 2-3 guys I don’t even bother with because they are going to offer me Jason Maxiell for Luka and if I asked for a 2nd they’d laugh in my face and block me. I’m constantly trying to make deals and likely to a fault but I have a helluva time finding a dance partner in bigger deals.

It's a dynasty league so you don't expect to make wholesale changes to the roster all the time. When teams come into the league with a squad to rebuild, it does take some time to get (back) to the top - multiple teams have or are on their way to doing it successfully.
Most of the moves/activity in this league are during the offseason - the various drafts and free agency.
I've enjoyed having this league amongst my other 9-cat, re-draft leagues. This season I've all but quit fantasy basketball but at least have this one league to keep things going.

I’ve been in this league for at least 16 years. The early days were very different and fun. Granted I had a lot less going on in my life back in the “old days” lol.

Back to topic... I hope you change your mind and stick around. I’ve considered quitting multiple times but I’ve ultimately enjoyed sticking it out. My unsolicited advice, set a lineup and at least play this season before calling it done for good.

It shouldn’t be a mystery that is revealed after free agency. For instance I thought I’d have to cut 15 million...instead I can add 40 ish million. ThatS a completely different approach to the off-season. what do you mean by make the dispersal draft permanent? Teams need a better way to retain their free agents. Top 50 Expirings get moved for peanuts because if you aren’t tanking your losing your guy. id also add a UTL spot, either as a new spot or to replace a bench spot. Allow for some diversity in builds.

Fundamentally there needs to be a hard cap and salary hit on cut players.
If there's a player on a bad NBA contract, you should think twice before signing him in VBA. And do your homework first (exhibit: Panthers and Boris Diaw). And if you do go through with it, you take that risk of potential dead money.
I would agree you should only take the one-time hit so you aren't paying for the player twice if you re-sign them later on.
We've had the discussion before on if you sign a player someone else has cut then the dead salary should leave the old team. It's still a reasonable point today. There are a couple of ways this could be different: (1) Agree on this (2) Player goes to the highest bidder and become a FA the year following.
I also agree that the hard cap should be announced a lot earlier so teams know what they are working with. I have been a proponent of saying teams can't exceed it at any point and need to be creative if they are close to the hard cap.
I think the FA Rights are better valued now that we have the 17% rule in place. Only 1-4 teams are going to have major cap space in any given year - the draft/FA is how a lot of teams have rebuilt successfully and that avenue needs to stay in place. The 17% rule achieves two things: (1) makes retaining FAs more possible (2) prevents collusion in FA

And do your homework first (exhibit: Panthers and Boris Diaw) Sure, but aren't we at the mercy of the NBA teams? I could have a guy on a great deal... then that player gets extended on a stupid contract and I'm left stuck with them. Should there be a mechanism where we can walk away from those bad extension type deals?

Agree with all of this. As you know especially the paying a guy twice. I'm paying dedmon 16mil x2 lol guys not even on a roster. I know a guy who would deintiely love to take your team as he wanted Ninjas and somehow lost it, but I'd say stick around and see if some of these changes can be implemented.

At a certain point, the restrictions make the league not as fun. My point for the rules to be loosened is the consequences shouldn’t last a college degree length (4 years). This is “fantasy” basketball.

I’ll stick around for the season, but I think we need to address some of the ideas that were brought forward in this thread. It’s a good league, but there’s need for holes to filled
